In the last educational year, we implemented a new technology IoT(Internet of Things) in our schools & college for the students of std. 8th to 12th .
IoT Introduction :
The internet of things(IoT) refers to a network of physical devices, automobiles, home appliances and all those items that are used in conjunction with actuators, electronics, sensors, software and connectivity to enhance connection, collection and data exchange. The IoT provides a platform that creates opportunities for people to connect these devices and control them with big data technology, which in return will promote efficiency in performance, economic benefits and minimize the need for human involvement. It’s the most important development of the 21st century.
IoT involves the extension of internet connectivity beyond personal computers and mobile devices. It can reach a wide range of non-internet enabled devices. Once the devices have been embedded with technology, they are brought to life and can communicate with each other through the internet. This means they can be monitored and controlled remotely. For instance, the rise of autonomous driverless cars has become more feasible because of IoT implementation.
IoT is regarded as the significant frontier that can improve almost all activities in our lives. Most of the devices, which have not previously been connected to the internet, can be networked and respond the same way as smart devices. By 2020, the world is set to be completely IoT oriented. Here are the benefits, which come with this technology :
- IoT promotes efficient resource utilization.
- It minimizes human efforts in many life aspects.
- Enabling IoT will reduce the cost of production and maximizing the returns.
- It makes analytics decisions faster and accurately.
- It boosts the real-time marketing of products.
- Provide a better client experience.
- It guarantees high-quality data, data collection and secured processing.
Initially, we all teachers were also unknown to this new emerging technology – IoT. But our institution Nashik Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Nashik took the initiative and encouraged us so we were able to arrange a full-fledged exhibition of 51 projects on 6th & 7thFeb. 2018 in our campus. This was the first exhibition of it’s kind in Nashik district & may be in the state.
It was a wide range of experiences right from the beginning. Our students performed all the projects themselves under our guidance. Students not only developed programs but also learnt assembling, designing, soldering, wiring, packing and each & every essential minute details for it. We faced many failures during it but finally a full-fledged, a complete successful product were designed. I also went through the online course “An Introduction to IoT” by Coursera.

It was indeed a knowledge enhancing experience for us. Enthusiasm of our students right from its beginning was just appreciable. And only with their consistent and considerable efforts we could achieve the set objectives of project completion and successful exhibition. It was appreciated by honorable personalities like Deputy Directors, Education officers, Principals, Engineering college students, school students, industrialists and society at large.
